Elemental Damage?
Hey all, I just got a gold hammer that does cold damage. I noticed it was different than my regular blunt damage and wondered what effect cold damage has on my enemies/monsters.
Does it slow down the monsters after I hit them? Thanks. |

The only thing damage type has to do with anything, be it elemental, peircing, slashing, or blunt, is armor.
For example, your cold damage would bypass the extra armor against physical that a lot of warriors get. But then against say a ranger who has +elemental or +cold armor, you would do less. For the most part, elemental over physical isn't really worth it because you could have a better mod. If you're using it for something like conjure light (if it were light damage) then it might be worth it. Hope that helped. |

Oh alright that does help. Thanks! But one more question:
Is it possible for a monster to have some sort of fire armor? If so, does cold damage do more damage to them? And the same for players, can they have fire armor? And what you said about elemental being worse than physical in most cases, is there any way I can remove the elemental status of a weapon? How many mods can you use on a weapon? Thanks a lot for answering the additional questions! |

Not worse than physical but worse because it would take up the place of a different mod for the weapon, such as sundering.
Each weapon has 2 upgrade parts Example a bow has a string and a grip Sword has Hilt and Pommel One represents the prefix the other represents the suffix of the weapon A Fiery Short Bow of Fortitude would have a Fiery string (fire damage) and a bow grip of fortitude (+life). You can change these at any time by taking an upgrade (gained by salvaging, usually with an expert salvage kit, an item that has an upgrade) and "applying" it to the item. Example, if you've got the same Fiery Short Bow of Fortitude from above and you've got a Shocking bow string (lightning damage) you would double click the shocking bow string then click on the Fiery Short Bow of Fortitude. It would ask if you're sure you want to do this because if you click yes you will lose the "Fiery" string forever and the Shocking one will take it's place. As far as I know different monsters have different armor bonuses just like people. Cold wouldn't offer any sort of bonus against a fire bonus, it's not paper rock scissors style. |

Thanks a lot, but I have yet another question =P
In PVP, I noticed that when I use my Icy Hammer, it deals a lot less damage than my regular blunt hammer. Does that mean most elemental weapons are less effective in PVP than non-elemental ones? Thanks! |

BUMP
Addon: Not only does my Icy Hammer deal less damage in pvp (due to their armor vs. elemental attacks), but it does less in PvE. Does that also mean that monsters have resistance to elemental attacks? If so, is there a site that gives how much resistance a particular monster has against a certain element? |
